Brewing instructions

Xiao Qing Gan tea is a unique and flavorful tea that combines the rich, earthy notes of Pu'er tea with the zesty, citrusy essence of mandarin oranges. This tea is traditionally prepared by stuffing mandarin oranges with Pu'er tea, a practice that not only enhances the flavor but also connects to cultural practices and medicinal uses in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
To fully appreciate the depth of Xiao Qing Gan tea, it is important to understand the significance of multiple steeps during the brewing process, as each infusion reveals different flavor profiles. Additionally, rinsing the tea leaves with hot water before brewing is a crucial step to clean and 'wake up' the tea, ensuring that the flavors are more effectively extracted during steeping.
It can be brewed with a ceramic covered bowl or a purple clay teapot. The recommended tea-water ratio is 1:25. The water temperature should be kept above 95 degrees during the entire brewing process. After the water boils, the first and second flushes are used to clean the impurities on the surface of the tea leaves and wake up the tea leaves. After the third flush, you can officially taste the tea. Please wait 20 seconds after each flush before pouring the tea. The retention time can be adjusted according to personal preference. The production process of this tea first requires the use of fresh, disease-free citrus fruits, hollowing out the flesh, and leaving the peel as a container. Then put the Pu'er tea into the peel, and after careful kneading and compacting, the tea leaves and the peel are tightly combined. Finally, the Xiaoqinggan filled with tea leaves is placed in a cool and ventilated place to dry naturally until the surface of the peel presents a golden luster.

This has become my favourite evening Huaxiang Rougui Dahongpao Oolong tea to have, and I personally prefer it as it tastes much better. It also brews quickly and produces a consistent taste every time. I also put extra leaves in the pot because the aroma is amazing.

This is my second time ordering Bi Luo Chun green tea from Dofotea brand, and I honestly don’t want to run out. The flavour is natural and mild, just the way I like it. I brew it using my pour-over and add a touch of sweetener, it turns out really lovely every time.
